The Dodge Durango Gets The SRT8 Treatment

The Dodge Durango Gets The SRT8 Treatment

These days, the folks at Dodge are going all out with high performance versions of high performance versions of their vehicles. They have now unveiled an SRT8 version of the Durango which will be officially revealed at the Chicago Auto Show later this week. I’ve written before about the onslaught of high performance SUVs and crossovers which continue to flood the market. The Durango is a bit unique in the fact that they aren’t just bragging about 0-60 times, they are also showing off its ability to smoke all four tires.

Let’s look at those all important numbers… We start with a 475 horsepower HEMI V8 that also produces 470 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 time is 4.4 seconds and the quarter mile time clocks in at 12.9 seconds. All of this is very impressive. The one important number they haven’t yet shared is price. Since this will no doubt be the flagship model, I think it is safe to assume it will be priced higher than the AWD R/T version, which starts around $45,000. My guess is the price of the SRT8 would fall somewhere around $65,000-$70,000.

Dodge also added some very aggressive styling cues to the exterior to match the performance under the hood. On the inside you’ll find leather and suede as standard with optional Demonic Red leather seating and new carbon fiber trim. You’ll also find three rows of seating, which makes the performance of this SUV even more insane.

Want to know another great perk of purchasing a Durango SRT8? You receive a full-day training session of high performance driving with a professional instructor at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona.

Watch the video to see the Durango SRT8 performing an epic burnout.

The Durango SRT8 will be arriving in showrooms late this fall.
