The Audi RS3 is coming soon to the U.S.

If you are familiar with the Audi lineup you know when they add the letter “S” and the letter “R” to one of their models, it means good things. Well the Audi RS3 was unveiled in Paris and the best news about the announcement is that it’s coming to the United States. In the past, several high performance Audi’s never made their way across the Atlantic. The A3 and S3 are currently on sale in the U.S. as the entry level sedans in Audi’s lineup. The S3 has a 292-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds. At a base price of $42,900, it offers really good performance value for the money. This new RS3 goes a step further, and it’s a big step. The RS3 has a 400-hp turbocharged 5-cylinder engine with a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds. No word yet on price but I’m guessing it will start somewhere around $50,000. I think people sometime overlook Audi and go with BMW for a sporty German sedan but the S3, and now the RS3, are good alternatives to what BMW offers. BMW’s M2 has the same 0-60 time and starts at $51,000, but for some that won’t be as practical because it only has two doors. Also, the Audi is all-wheel-drive, which isn’t shocking.

As usual, the choice comes down to preference but I’m particularly excited that Audi is sending some of its most potent models stateside. I love having choices and this gives us one more option for performance in this price range.
