Introducing Jaguar E-Pace: An Affordable Jag SUV

Introducing Jaguar E-Pace: An Affordable Jag SUV

Another new compact luxury SUV is heading to a showroom near you, but this time it’s a bit different. First let me start with the list of companies that you wouldn’t have ever expected to offer an SUV… Porsche? BMW? Bentley? Well now Jaguar has joined their ranks. Actually, Jaguar got into the market last year with the F-Pace which is one of the best looking SUVs on the market, in my opinion. Now they are bringing out a smaller brother, so to speak – the E-Pace. The E-pace is more of compact SUV but it is also more affordable with prices starting at $38,000. It’s meant to compete with the BMW X1 and Lexus NXs of the world.

At first glance I’m really excited about this one. The fact remains that non-luxury companies are really going to have a hard time competing with this. Just a few weeks ago I saw a commercial for the new Chevrolet Equinox and even though it’s base price is in the $20,000 range it tops out easily at $40,000. I thought, seriously, for an Equinox? I feel like it should $32,000 fully loaded not $40K. So why on earth would you buy an Equinox when you could get a BMW or Lexus for that price? That was my big question, but now I have to add Jaguar to that list and that makes my argument even more compelling.

The Jag has a ton of standards features, a luxurious interior that won’t feel cheap in any way. Plus Jaguar is now offering complementary maintenance for the first 5 years of 60,000 miles. Chevrolet isn’t. Not too mention the sporty driving characteristics and the sports car-inspired interior.

The bottom line to me is you can purchase a luxurious and sporty SUV with serious pedigree and complimentary maintenance for the same price as a whole host of other SUVs. Now, I’m not trying to dog Chevrolet. They are just the most recent example that comes to mind because they, too, have a new version for 2018. It just makes sense to consider all of your options if you are in the market for an SUV and your budget is around $40,000.

Let me share some of the specs on the E-Pace. Here is a nice list of just a few of features you get standard if you spend $40,000:

  • Emergency Braking
  • Cruise Control and Speed Limiter
  • Driver Condition Monitor
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Rear View Camera
  • Front and Rear Parking Aid
  • Touch Pro System w/10″ Screen
  • Voice Control
  • Bluetooth® Connectivity
  • Two-zone Climate Control
  • Rain Sensing Windshield Wipers
  • Heated Rear Window/Door Mirrors
  • Ingenium 2.0 liter 4 cylinder 246HP Turbocharged Gas – All Wheel Drive
  • LED Headlights
  • Grained leather seats
  • Jaguar Sound System
  • Navigation Pro
  • Smartphone Pack
  • Connect Pro Pack

There are plenty of options for colors and technology. If you want to build one yourself, go to this link.

My honest opinion is that you should give the E-Pace a chance if you are in the market for a smaller SUV and you want a luxurious and sporty feel. Even if you aren’t sure about what you want, at least give the E-Pace a try. I have a feeling you won’t be sorry.
