The BMW i8 Roadster is For Real

The BMW i8 Roadster is For Real

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of the BMW i8. Just take a look at the Phil’s Morning Drive Instagram and you’ll see plenty of photos of i8s, because I snap a photo every chance I get. BMW recently announced more details on the upcoming roadster version of the i8. By more details, I mean not really any new details, at all. All we know is that it is coming in 2018 and will possibly be accompanied with a slight refresh to the styling, both inside and out.

We do have this 17-second video with the car covered in camo, where we can clearly see the removable roof. I also heard some rumors about a power increase, which is always a good thing. Having a plug-in hybrid sports car with no roof in this price range will really be something. Zooming around town in silence and then letting it rip once you are out of town will be quite a unique feeling. Unless you’ve been in a Porsche 918 Spyder, it’s hard to know what this will feel like. And let’s face it, you could probably buy seven or more i8s for the price of a 918. Nevertheless, enjoy this video and I’ll be back with more information as soon as I get it.
