23 Dec A Rally Driver, A Ford Raptor, and Lots of Snow
Ford Motor Company recently released a video with world famous rally driver Ken Block having some serious fun in their new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor. The Raptor has gone through a refresh for 2017 that includes even more aggressive styling and a few modifications underneath to make it even more extreme.
For starters, it’s 500 pounds lighter than the previous generation thanks to the aluminum body and steel frame. It boasts an all-new 3.5 liter Ecoboost engine with twin turbochargers that puts out 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It also features a new 10-speed automatic transmission, an all-new 4WD system and 3.0 inch FOX Racing Shox. Also for 2017, the Raptor is available as a SuperCrew model, which means more room for passengers during those off-road expeditions.
I like that Raptor buyers can now get an off-roading beast of a truck, featuring many of the items owners previously ordered aftermarket, from a local Ford dealer. Now their customers get a factory warranty, can drive it right off the lot and to the nearest trail on the same day. I know the downside is that the trucks may not be as unique, but I think some of the pros really outweigh that particular con. The next time it snows you won’t care because you will be in one of the few vehicles that can handle just about anything, all while enjoying your factory warranty.
Ford says they are now taking orders for the 2017 Raptor. Here’s the link to official brochure. The base price is $49,520 with the SuperCab. You add $2,985 for the SuperCrew. With most of the option boxes checked I was able to get the price of a SuperCrew just north of $70,000.
